Driver Thrown Over 50 Feet


Jason Crank lost control of his vehicle on County Road 20. His truck impacted a culvert, became airborne and came to rest on one side of the road (above) and ejected Crank about 50 feet into the ditch on the other side of the road (below).









Animal Cruelty Investigation


Lafayette County CID Pete Richardson is investigating the case of a horse starving to death in the midst of lush pasture. The horse cannot move around to eat because of a basketball sized growth on one foot.





Vacant House Burned


Stamps firemen were called to the corner of Old Hope Road and Oak Street on Friday night. Firemen think some mattresses stacked under the carport were ignited by fireworks being shot off in the vicinity.







Teachers & Superintendent Clash


Incoming new superintendent Mark Keith put some teachers on the defensive when he addressed the School Board last week. Keith stated that teachers should dress professionally. Items he considered to be unprofessional were: tight fitting or body contouring clothing; revealing clothing whether it was cut too low, see through or showing the midriff; sweatshirts, sweat pants, sweat suits or windsuits or athletic attire unless you are teaching or coaching physical education; scrubs unless you are a nurse; hats, inside or outside the building unless worn for health reasons; clothing wtih non-school logos, exposing underwear of any type; any denim pant; beach type sandals, flip-flops and crocs.







Maloch Presents Legislative Recap


State Representative Bruce Maloch presented the program at last week's Stamps Rotary meeting. He gave a recap of this year's state legislative session.
